<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide appropriate direction information on the basis of positional relation between an imaging device and peripheral apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A direction acquisition device that can be fixed to an external device comprises: direction acquisition means for acquiring direction information; position acquisition means for acquiring position information; communication means for communicating with the external device; and determination means for determining whether or not the direction acquisition device is fixed to the external device. The communication means transmits the position information and the direction information to the external device. The direction acquisition means does not acquire the direction information when it is determined by the determination means that the direction acquisition device is not fixed to the external device.
