PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the power saving of a remote controller by positively controlling the on/off-states of a plurality of sensors provided in a remote controller.SOLUTION: A remote control system includes a remote controller 100 having: a microphone sensor 191 for detecting a voice issued by a user; a motion sensor 192 for detecting the movement of a remote controller 100 by the user; switching means 194 for switching the on/off-states of those sensors 191 and 192; communication means 193 for performing radio communication with an STB(Set Top Box) 200; and clocking means 195 for performing clocking as an opportunity to switch the microphone sensor 191 or the motion sensor 192 from an on-state to an off-state. The switching means 194 switches the on/off-states of those sensors 191 and 192 on the basis of various signals from the inside and outside of the remote controller 100.
