PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a rail having high ductility and toughness without increase of production costs.SOLUTION: In producing a pearlite rail by subjecting a steel material having a component composition containing 0.001-0.05% of Nb and remaining Fe and unavoidable impurities to hot rolling and cooling, the steel material is heated to 1,200-1,330°C before the hot rolling, and the hot rolling is conducted under the conditions of a cumulative reduction of area in the temperature range of 950°C or lower of 40% or higher and finishing temperatures of 800°C or higher in the head part of the rail and 600°C or higher in the foot part, with a temperature difference between the head and foot parts of 200°C or smaller. |
