PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect vehicles without embedding axle number detector on a road.SOLUTION: The vehicle detector includes: a transmitter which transmits a beam of transmission light toward a vehicle; a receiver which receives the transmission light from the transmitter; a control unit which determines existence/non-existence of vehicle on the basis of the transmission light received by the receiver; an axle detection light emitter which transmits a beam of laser transmission light to wheels of the vehicle; and an axle detection receiver which receives the laser transmission light from the axle detection light emitter. The control unit counts the number of axles of the wheels on the basis of the laser transmission light received by the axle detection receiver. |
