<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display control device which provides services provided by a window of a portlet having failure when failure occurs in the portlet of a portal page. <P>SOLUTION: A display control device comprises: input means which inputs display data indicating display contents to be displayed on a part of a display screen via a portlet that outputs the display data; screen output means which generates display contents from the input display data and outputs the display screen including the display contents; substitute information storage means which stores substitute information associating information for identifying the portlet and information for identifying a substitute portlet that operates as a substitute for the portlet; and failure determination means which determines presence of failure in the portlet and, when failure is present, notifies the input means that the portlet has failure.
