The invention is a fold-back apparatus that folds back each edge in the width direction of an absorbent article continuous sheet while the continuous sheet is being conveyed, with the direction of continuity thereof as the conveyance direction. The continuous sheet is an outer wrapping sheet that forms the outer wrapping material in the absorbent article and by each edge being folded back at the respective folding position, the respective folding position portions in the continuous sheet each become the margin of the waistband in the absorbent article. The fold-back apparatus comprises: fold-back guide members, which are immovably fixed to the fold-back apparatus and which fold each edge back by folding each edge at the respective folding position corresponding to the respective edge that is prescribed on the fold-back apparatus; sensors, which have a camera for each edge or only one camera for the two edges, the cameras being provided upstream of the fold-back guide members in the conveyance direction, and which, prior to the respective edges being folded back, image the respective detected regions established on the continuous sheet at the respective edges and generate image data, and which output width direction position information for each detected region on the basis of the image data; and width direction position-adjusting devices, which are provided upstream of the fold-back guide members in the conveyance direction and which have a position adjustment mechanism for each edge for adjusting the width direction position of the corresponding edge of the two edges. The respective position adjustment mechanisms of the width direction position-adjusting devices each adjust the width direction position of the edge on the basis of the position information for the corresponding edge so that the target folding position of the corresponding edge aligns with the folding position on the fold-back apparatus. |
