摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably preparing a catalyst for manufacturing methacrylic acid with a high conversion ratio of methacrolein and with a high yield of methacrylic acid.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing methacrylic acid includes the steps of: preparing particles containing catalyst components by drying slurry prepared by mixing in water catalyst raw materials containing molybdenum trioxide, vanadium raw material and phosphorus raw material; preparing a kneaded object by kneading the particles, polysaccharide and water or alcohol; preparing a molded object by extrusion-molding of the kneaded object; preparing a catalyst precursor by drying the molded object; and heat-treating the catalyst precursor. The carbon atom content of the catalyst precursor is ≥2.0 mass%, and the mass reduction rate at 150-200°C is ≤1.8 mass% to the mass of the catalyst precursor used for measuring when the mass reduction rate of the catalyst precursor is measured under an air stream and at a temperature rise of 10°C/min.
