Disclosed are a user input device and a method thereof according to the present invention. The user input device according to the present invention comprises: a touch input module which outputs a touch coordinate value in accordance with a touch input when inputting a touch in a side area of a touch screen; a gesture input module which outputs a gesture coordinate value in accordance with a gesture input when inputting a gesture in a set spatial area corresponding to the touch screen; and a space combination module which converts at least one among the touch coordinate value and the gesture coordinate value based on a reference coordinate for a random space which is set by checking whether the touch input and the gesture input are a continuous input or not based on the touch coordinate vale and the gesture coordinate value.
