PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide security protection when an inappropriately long read size is specified when data is read from a storage medium device.SOLUTION: A storage medium device includes; a communication unit for communicating with external communication devices; a storage medium; and a file storage area designation unit which responds to an instruction, received by the communication unit, to divide a storage area of the storage medium by dividing the storage area into multiple subareas, responds to an instruction, received by the communication unit, to define a first type file storage area for storing a file of a first type that cannot be externally output by designating one of the multiple subareas as the first type file storage area, and responds to an instruction, received by the communication unit, to define a second type file storage area for storing a file of a second type that can be externally output by designating a subarea other than the one designated as the first type file storage area as the second type file storage area. |
