摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a residual stress evaluation method and a residual stress evaluation device which can accurately measure the residual stress on a surface layer of an inspection object body by suppressing deterioration of measurement accuracy due to the contact state of an ultrasonic probe to the inspection object body with a relatively simple configuration.SOLUTION: A residual stress evaluation device which evaluates the residual stress existing on a surface layer of a measurement sample W on the basis of the propagation time of the ultrasonic wave propagating on the surface layer of the measurement sample W, comprises: a transmission probe which transmits an SH wave and an SV wave with different vibration forms to the surface layer of the measurement sample W to excite a Rayleigh wave and a surface SH wave as a plurality of propagation ultrasonic waves with different vibration forms on the surface layer of the measurement sample W; a reception probe which receives the propagation ultrasonic waves with different vibration forms propagating on the surface layer of the measurement sample W; and an evaluation unit which calculates each propagation time of the plurality of kinds of propagation ultrasonic waves received by the reception probe to evaluate the residual stress existing on the surface layer of the measurement sample W on the basis of the calculated propagation time.
