PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine equipped with a cylinder deactivation mechanism, which can accurately detect the states of intake and exhaust valves and therefore is contributable to a fuel depletion problem and environmental conservation.SOLUTION: A control device of an internal combustion engine equipped with a cylinder activation mechanism comprises: ignition means 2 including high voltage means 202 for making an ignition plug discharge for ignition on the basis of an ignition signal, and an ignition discharge parameter detection circuit 203 which detects a parameter showing the state of ignition discharge; and valve state determination means 206 for determining the valve operation states of intake and discharge valves on the basis of at least one of an ignition discharge duration, an ignition dielectric breakdown voltage and an ignition discharge sustaining voltage, which are detected on the basis of an output signal of the ignition discharge parameter detection circuit 203. The control device controls the operation of cylinder deactivation control means 207 on the basis of the determination result of the valve state determination means 206. |
