摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive friction material that satisfies a regulation related to a copper component content, secures demanded effect, fading resistance, abrasion resistance, and adhesive strength between the friction material and a back plate, and has an excellent product appearance.SOLUTION: A friction material is obtained by molding a friction material composition of NAO material containing no copper component, and used for a disc brake pad. The friction material composition includes: 8-15 vol% based on the entire amount of the friction material composition, of an inorganic frictional adjustment material (a) containing no titanate and having an average particle diameter of 0.5-20 μm, and Mohs hardness of 5-8; 1-3 vol% based on the entire amount of the friction material composition, of a porous inorganic frictional adjustment material (b) having a micro porous structure; and 5-10 vol.% of a carbonaceous lubricant (c). The friction material composition is such that the carbonaceous lubricant includes 2-4 vol.% of coke, based on the entire amount of the friction material composition, the coke has an average particle diameter of 300-800 μm, and the contents of the (a),(b), and (c) satisfy formula as follows: 1.0≤((a)+(b))/(c)≤2.5.
