PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device for a vehicle ignition device with an improved surge resistance that comprises a power supply protection element.SOLUTION: A drive device for a vehicle ignition device comprises a switching element and a semiconductor integrated circuit for driving the switching element. The semiconductor integrated circuit comprises a drive circuit and a power supply protection element that protects the drive circuit from surge. The power supply protection element comprises: an anode region of a first conductivity type provided on a semiconductor substrate including first and second principal surfaces opposed to each other; a cathode region of a second conductivity type; an anode contact region of the first conductivity type provided on the first principal surface so as to be exposed; and a cathode contact region of the second conductivity type provided on the first principal surface so as to be exposed. An impurity concentration of the anode region is equivalent to that of the cathode region. An impurity concentration of the anode contact region is 100 times as large as that of the anode region.
