PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens which has a compact total system with a wide view angle and easily provides high optical performance.SOLUTION: A zoom lens comprises, in order from the object side to the image side, a first lens group L1 having negative refractive power and a rear group LR having one or more lens groups, where distance between each adjacent pair of lens groups changes while zooming. When zooming from the wide-angle end to the telephoto end, distance between the first lens group and the rear group narrows. The rear group has positive refractive power. The first lens group includes, in order from the object side to the image side, a first aspherical lens having an aspherical lens surface on the image side with a positive aspheric departure and a second aspherical lens having an aspherical lens surface on the object side with a negative aspheric departure, and satisfies an expression: 0.10<BLD1/R11<1.00, where R11 represents a curvature radius if an object-side lens surface of the first aspherical lens is spherical and represents a radius of a reference spherical surface if the object-side lens surface of the first aspherical lens is aspherical, and BLD1 represents a block length of the first lens group. |
