PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily give a foreground/background blurring effect to a subject at an arbitrary distance without performing image processing even in the case that a lens aperture is small.SOLUTION: A camera acquires a distance z to a main subject when a photographic optical system focuses on the main subject selected by a user, acquires a focal distance f and an aperture value F of the photographic optical system selected by the user, sets the diameter of an allowable circle of confusion in an image surface of the photographic optical system by a calculation using the focal distance and the aperture value, or sets the diameter in accordance with selection of the user, and sets a focal position z' of the photographic optical system in accordance with selection of the user within the range of equation in Figure. The camera sets the focal position z' of the photographic optical system in accordance with the selection of the user within the range. |
