PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain image quality in a configuration of applying a lubricant onto a developing roller.SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus that includes a process cartridge 1 removably attached thereto, the process cartridge 1 including an image carrier 10 and a developer carrier 31 that can carry a developer, where the developer carrier 31 has a lubricant having a polarity opposite to that of the developer applied thereon. When the image forming apparatus has a new process cartridge 1 attached thereto, it performs a discharge operation to discharge the lubricant from the developer carrier 31 to the image carrier 10. |
