PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional layer forming method for an organic light emission device in which when a functional layer is formed in each groove space by a wet method with respect to a bank-appended substrate having plural first banks formed along the surface of a base substrate and plural second banks formed in respective groove spaces comparted by the first banks, occurrence of dispersion in film thickness of the functional layer between pixel areas adjacent to each other through the second bank can be suppressed.SOLUTION: In a process of forming a hole transport layer or hole injecting and transporting layer 116, ink is selectively coated on a second bank 114 in a groove space 125 in a first coating step, and a coated ink layer 116a is dried to form a lower layer 116A on the second bank 114. Ink is uniformly coated on the whole groove space 125 in a second coating step. An ink layer is formed in the groove space 125 so as to cover the ink layer 116a and dried, whereby an upper layer is formed to cover the lower layer 116A. |
