An electrolyzed water generating method, comprising the steps of: supplying and circulating an anodic electrolyte comprising aqueous solution with dissolved alkaline-metal chloride from a storage tank of anodic electrolyte which retains anodic electrolyte to an anode chamber of a two compartment cell separated by a cation exchange membrane into two chambers of an anode chamber accommodating an anode and a cathode chamber accommodating a cathode, supplying raw water free from alkaline-metal chloride to the cathode chamber, and carrying out electrolysis, thereby producing alkaline electrolyzed water free from alkaline-metal chloride at the cathode chamber and simultaneously, producing chlorine containing gas at the anode chamber, separating and collecting the gas from the anodic electrolyte, and allowing said gas to come in contact with dissolution fluid free from alkaline-metal chloride to be dissolved, and producing acidic electrolyzed water free from alkaline-metal chloride.
