PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet which enables the decrease in the amount of Dy or Tb used, and enables the appropriate increase in the coercive force of a permanent magnet even if the permanent magnet is a large-sized one; and a method for manufacturing such a permanent magnet.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a permanent magnet 1 comprises the steps of: pulverizing a magnet raw material into magnet powder; mixing the resultant magnet powder with a binder, thereby producing a compound 12; molding the compound 12 in a sheet-like form into a green sheet 14; thereafter, forming shaped parts 31-33 from the green sheet 14; making a combination of the shaped parts 31-33; and sintering the combination of the shaped parts collectively. Thus, the permanent magnet 1 including a combination of the shaped parts 31-33 is manufactured in a form according to a coercive force that the finished permanent magnet is required to have.
