PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective MIMO transmission technology in an environment where a communication apparatus uses different numbers of antennas for transmission and reception.SOLUTION: The communication apparatus uses a plurality of first antennas to communicate with an opposite-side apparatus which includes a plurality of second antennas and uses only a part of the second antennas for transmission. The communication apparatus estimates a first precoding submatrix from a first channel matrix between each of the plurality of first antennas and each of a part of the plurality of second antennas obtained by receiving a signal. The communication apparatus acquires information identifying a second precoding submatrix estimated by the opposite-side apparatus on the basis of a second channel matrix between each of the plurality of first antennas and at least one of a remaining part of the plurality of second antennas. The communication apparatus then obtains a precoding matrix for transmission of the signal by connecting the first precoding submatrix and the second precoding submatrix.
