1. A method for producing a polyether diol, comprising subjecting a compound represented by the following general formula (1) to hydrogenation reduction in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst to provide at least one polyether diol selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by the following general formulae (2), (3A), (3B), (3C), and (3D): wherein in the formulae (1), (2), (3A), (3B), (3C), and (3D), R1, R2, R3, and R4 may be the same or different, and represent a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms; and in each of R1, R2, R3, and R4, independently, one or two or more hydrogen atoms contained in the alkyl group may be replaced with an alkoxy group having 6 or less carbon atoms or a functional group inactive for a hydrogenation reduction reaction. |
