PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup element that can obtain a color output image even when color filters and pupil divisional patterns are not aliquant to each other.SOLUTION: An image pickup element has imaging means having a two-dimensional arrangement of pixels for generating pixel signals of a subject, plural pupil dividing means which are two-dimensionally arranged on an imaging face of the imaging means at a period of the arrangement of a first predetermined number of pixels for the two-dimensional arrangement of the pixels, and divide an exit pupil of an imaging optical system, and color filter means of predetermined plural colors arranged at the respective two-dimensionally arranged pixels according to a predetermined color arrangement pattern having a period of the arrangement of a second predetermined number of pixels. The corresponding relationship between the arrangement pattern of the color filters of predetermined plural colors for the arrangement of the first predetermined number of pixels and the pupil divisional pattern of the exit pupil in the arrangement of the first predetermined number of pixels by the pupil dividing means is different between adjacent pupil dividing means, and the first predetermined number and the second predetermined number are not aliquant to each other. |
