The invention relates to a method for placing a self-sealing rubber composition on the inner surface of a tyre casing (40) comprising the steps of: inserting a self-sealing composition, which is not cross-linked, into an extrusion means having specifically adapted geometric and thermodynamic characteristics; adjusting the speed and temperature conditions of the extrusion means such that, at an application nozzle (30) which forms the outlet channel of said extrusion means, the self-sealing composition is cross-linked; and moving the application nozzle toward the inner surface of said casing which has been previously made to move relative to the application nozzle, and directly placing an extruded and cross-linked bead (41) of a given width and profile on said inner surface of the casing.
