A storage system comprises a controller unit, a data storage unit and a signal transport path connecting these units. A driver included in the controller unit transmits, on the basis of a parameter having been set, a signal including write data. A receiver included in the data storage unit receives the signal, and the write data included in the signal is then written into a first storage area. The controller unit reads the write data from the first storage area and then determines whether any bit error exists in the write data. If any bit error exists, the controller unit changes the parameter and repeats a similar determination, thereby finding an appropriate parameter for which no bit error exists. |
