Vehicle restraints with stop mechanisms

Some examples of vehicle restraints (10) that include a movable barrier (18) for selectively blocking a vehicle's RIG (Rear Impact Guard) (20) near the dock face (14) of a loading dock (16) also include a spring loaded brace (26) that helps hold the barrier in its blocking position, even when the RIG separates from the barrier. To hold the brace in its activated position where it supports the barrier, some examples of the brace include a tooth (32) that engages a detent (82) in a catch (28). The catch, in some examples, includes a tooth-engaging surface (74) that protrudes into a circular path (76) along which the tooth (32) can travel relative to the barrier (18).
