PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide platinum hollow nanoparticles capable of exhibiting excellent catalytic activity with a reduced platinum amount.SOLUTION: Provided are platinum hollow nanoparticles including nanoparticles with the particle diameter of 100 nm or lower, and each comprises an outer shell part composed of platinum components and a hollow part provided at the inside of the outer shell part, in which the hollow part communicates to the outside of the outer shell part, and the outer shell part is provided with at least one opening whose maximum opening diameter calculated by an image analysis method is 0.5 nm or higher.
