PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric vibrator which prevents a recess of a lid body when placed under high pressure and reduces variations in spreading of a joint material when a side surface of the lid body is joined to a substrate through the joint material such as solder, and to provide a piezoelectric oscillator having the piezoelectric vibrator.SOLUTION: A piezoelectric vibrator 100 includes: a piezoelectric vibration element 140; a piezoelectric vibration element mounting substrate 130 on which the piezoelectric vibration element is mounted; and a lid body 110 which is joined to the piezoelectric vibration element mounting substrate 130 to enclose the piezoelectric vibration element in a sealing manner and has a recess part 121 on a side surface.
