PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer film polarizer that improves the characteristic in which the region allowing polarization separation is small, as a fault of the multilayer film polarizer, and has the characteristic in which the polarization separation region is large, for example, the effective width exceeds 10 nm in a region of 365 nm.SOLUTION: In the multistage type multilayer film polarizer of the present invention, a plurality of multilayer film polarizers of different polarization separation wavelength regions are multistage-arranged so that light beams enter the polarizers at optimum angles. Thus, the p-polarization component in a specific region is removed by each polarizer, and the polarization separation region is enlarged by combination. |
