PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact absorbing material capable of acquiring a resin thickness distribution suitable of impact absorption by a vacuum molding method or a pressure molding method.SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing an impact absorbing material (1) adapted to be arranged between a body member (41) of an automobile and an internal and external material (42), that is, an impact absorbing material (1) including a base part (2) arranged on the side of the body member, and a plurality of projection parts (3) of a hollow truncated cone shape protruding from said base part toward the inner and outer sheathing sides. In the method, a flat part (12) for shaping said base part is recessed to form a recessed mold part (13) for shaping said projection parts, and a molding tool (11) formed with an exhaust hole (16) at least in the bottom face of said recessed is used. The thickness (d) of the resin is made thinner toward the leading ends of the projection parts (3) by introducing the thermally softened resin sheet onto said molding tool, so that the thickness (d) of the resin may become thinner toward the leading ends of the projection parts (3). |
