PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of performing defective (non-discharge) nozzle complementary processing while suppressing brightness deterioration caused by changes in recording time difference.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 2 in which a recording head 201 having a plurality of recording elements forms an image on a recording medium according to a recording pattern for each main scanning comprises: detection means 209 for detecting a defective recording element among the plurality of recording elements, and acquiring information of the defective recording element; and scanning data change means 211 for changing the recording pattern for each main scanning, and complementing the defective recording element with another normal recording element when the detection means detects the defective recording element. Before and after the change of the recording pattern for each main scanning, a recording time difference between pixels formed adjacently on the recording medium is not changed. |
