This invention relates to a compliance monitor for monitoring usage of a medicament delivery device. The medicament delivery device includes a store of medicament, a medicament dispensing means for delivering a dose of medicament. The compliance monitor includes a compliance monitor housing adapted to attach to the medicament delivery device, a dose detection means for determining when a dose of medicament is dispensed, and a recognition means for identifying the properties of the medicament delivery device.
