PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more efficient valve activation method in vascular access devices which allows the valve to open and close automatically and can provide a minimal fluid flow restriction and thus a flow with more momentum, with a low stress imparted to a septum.SOLUTION: A medical device has a vascular access device including a rotationally activated flow control valve having: a body including a distal adapter and a proximal adapter defining a lumen extending therethrough; and a septum. Also provided is a method of use in which the connection of first and second medical devices results in the automatic activation of the rotational flow control valve. |
