PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means capable of selecting and ranking magnet materials by predicting a magnetic characteristic distribution on the in-plane of the magnet materials, when magnetic characteristics of a magnet after a magnetic material thereof has been magnetized are predicted at a stage before the magnetization of the magnetic material, and to provide a permanent magnet motor constituted from a selected magnet material and high in quality and low in cost.SOLUTION: Magnetic characteristics of a magnet after the magnetization of a magnet material are predicted by measuring a density distribution of magnetic fluxes transmitting through a magnet material when a magnetic field is applied on the magnetic material before magnetization, and a density distribution of residual fluxes of the magnet material after the magnetic field application.
