PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radioactive waste storage method capable of facilitating unloading an adsorption tower filled with adsorbent adsorbing radioactive cesium and radioactive strontium, ensuring radiation shield, and removing heat from the adsorption tower.SOLUTION: A pair of crane rails 4 are arranged along a longitudinal direction of a storage area in which a plurality of storage pits 2 formed of rectangular parallelepiped frames are disposed to hold the storage area therebetween. A portal crane 3 is movably installed on each crane rail 4. A used adsorption tower 5 adsorbing radioactive cesium and radioactive strontium is suspended by the portal crane 3 to be moved right onto each storage pit 2 and stored in the storage pit 2. If used adsorption towers 5 are stored in all the storage pits 2 arranged on a line in a direction orthogonal to the crane rails 4, radiation shields 6 are disposed on both sides of the line of the storage pits 2 on the respective crane rails 4. |
