This invention provides a power conversion device in which capacitors that are needed for steady-state operation can be charged even in a no-load state. This invention also provides a power conditioner using said power conversion device. A first conversion circuit (1) switches the magnitude of a voltage produced between a first output point (103) and a reference-potential point (100) between three levels, and a second conversion circuit (2) switches the magnitude of a voltage produced between the reference-potential point (100) and a second output point (104) between three levels. A third conversion circuit (5), which comprises first through fourth switches (Q11 through Q14) connected so as to form a full bridge, converts the voltage produced between the first output point (103) and the second output point (104) to an AC voltage and outputs said AC voltage. During a startup period from when a DC power supply (4) starts supplying power until a first capacitor (C1) and a second capacitor (C2) are charged to a prescribed voltage, the third conversion circuit (5) forms, between the first output point (103) and the second output point (104), a current pathway that includes inductors (61, 62). |
