The device (2) has solenoid valves (16, 18) provided upstream to operational brake circuits (26, 28). An electric control device (84) switches the valves into a blocking state inhibiting a compressed air supply to the failed brake circuits, during breakdown of the brake circuits. The control device switches a lower value of pressure surface of faultless brake circuits to a higher value relative to a lower value of a standard pressure surface, where the lower value of pressure surface of the faultless brake circuits is applied to the electric control device.
