PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a carbon particle for a lithium ion secondary battery negative electrode having high capacity and excellent cycle properties; a negative electrode for a lithium ion secondary battery containing the carbon particle; and a lithium ion secondary battery.SOLUTION: In a carbon particle used for a lithium ion secondary battery negative electrode, the circularity of a particle cross-section is in the range of 0.6-0.9, and the interlayer distance d(002) of a graphite crystal and the crystalline size Lc(002) in a C axial direction, which are determined by X-ray diffraction measurement, are 3.38 Å or less and 500 Å or more, respectively. In a sample negative electrode containing the carbon particle, a ratio Ih002/Ih110 of peak intensities on the carbon 002 plane (a plane horizontal to a graphite layer) and on the carbon 110 plane (a plane vertical to the graphite layer) measured by X-ray diffraction is 600 or less. |
