<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately determine a subject area without depending on an imaging scene. <P>SOLUTION: A scene discrimination part 103 discriminates whether an imaging scene that obtains image data in accordance with a predetermined discrimination condition is a predetermined scene or not. A first area extraction part 104 extracts a first area on the basis of a first item that has been used by the scene discrimination part 103 for scene discrimination among multiple areas obtained by dividing an image indicated by the image data. A second area extraction part 105 extracts a second area on the basis of a second item different from the first item among the multiple areas.
