摘要 373,354. Artificial daylight lamps. CLAUDE, G., 3, Avenue de l'Opera, Paris. -(Assignee of Beck, L. L. ; 27, Stoneleigh Park, Westfield, New Jersey, and Noble, A. E. ; 46, Nassau Boulevard, Lynbrook, Long Island, New York, both in U.S.A.) April 16, 1931, No. 11327. Convention date, April 17, 1930. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv).] For the production of artificial daylight, light from neon tubes is mixed with light from mercury tubes so that the intensity wave-length curve of the resultant mixture has a maximum value corresponding approximately to a wave-length of 5500 Angstrom units, and preferably has values in the red and green portions of the spectrum substantially coinciding with those of daylight. One part of neon light may be combined with four parts of mercury light filtered through a uranium glass or other yellow screen, the proportion of the two lights being obtained by controlling the length or diameter of the tubes or the discharge current supplied. The latter may be of high voltage and low amperage or of low voltage and high amperage and the tubes may be supplied from a single source or from independent sources. The mercury tubes may be made of uranium glass and may contain one or more rare gases, the electrodes are preferably of small dimensions to avoid enlargements of the tubes, and the cathodes may be treated with an electron-emitting substance such as a metal of the alkali or alkalineearth groups or compounds thereof. The Specification describes a method of treating a nickel or copper electrode with barium peroxide. For low voltage direct current the cathodes are adapted to operate at a high temperature and may comprise a pool of alkali metal. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a mercury tube 1 is arranged along the focal line of a parabolic reflector 19 having a recessed portion 23 provided with slots 24 and engaged by a hollow cylindrical member 21 surrounding a neon tube 2. Fig. 5 shows four mercury tubes 28 and a neon tube 29 arranged inside a reflecting device 38 fitted with a diffusing prismatic member 42. The reflecting device may be fitted with a diffusing screen made of frosted or translucent glass.
