The invention provides a process for producing a pack (P) of smoking articles (S), such as cigarettes, which comprises: assembling packaging material, such as a packaging blank (B), around a charge (C) of smoking articles (S) to form a pack enclosing the charge (C) of smoking articles. The assembled pack (P) includes a container portion (H) to hold the charge (C) of smoking articles (S), a lid (L) in hinged connection with the container portion (H) which is movable between a closed position for preventing access to the smoking articles (S) in the container portion and an open position for accessing the smoking articles (S), and a magnetic closure (M) having a first magnetic closure element (M 1 ) and a second magnetic closure element (M 2 ) which are configured and arranged to exert a magnetic force for holding the lid (L) in the closed position. The process for producing the pack (P) includes placing the first and second magnetic closure elements (M 1 , M 2 ) together or in combination with one another in the packaging material that forms the pack (P). |
