PURPOSE:To cope with defects on a disc, by recording error information on a storage area different from the area of an error and inhibiting the use of the area, if there are errors on the storage area on the disc. CONSTITUTION:An optical disc 1 is provided with a sector data area 2, a track code area 3, and a sector code area 4. Prior to the use of the disc 1, an error test is made in advance. For example, if the track 2 has a defect 5, the information is recorded on the outermost or the innermost circumferential track. If the sector code area 4 has an error, the error is recorded on the track code area 3. Thus, if an error is found out on each area, the information is recorded to a different area, allowing to perform stable operation for the errors. |
