A pipe fitting 1 comprises a tubular pipe section 2 with a first open end 5 such that the pipe section can be fitted to a vent pipe of a heating or hot water system, and a second closed end 6 with a cylindrical wall 3 between the first and second ends. The cylindrical wall 3 has one or more apertures 8, 9 each being formed through the lateral thickness of the cylindrical wall such that it forms a conduit 10, 11 extending along a non-orthogonal angle to the longitudinal axis 7 of the pipe fitting 1. In use, fluid escaping along the pipe section 2 towards the closed end 6 is deflected by the closed end 6 and out through the one or more apertures 8, 9 at a non-orthogonal angle to the longitudinal axis 7 of the pipe fitting. The non-orthogonal angle can be between 30-60 degrees. The apertures 8, 9 can be elongate slots, which can be curved in shape. A portion of the wall immediately below the apertures 8, 9 is formed such that it has a smaller radius than the majority of the cylindrical wall, and this can form an enlarged shoulder. |
