<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the washability and cleanability of a rear face on which dirt in a bowl is easily attached. <P>SOLUTION: A water closet 1 comprises a bowl 2, a rim 9 provided in the upper end of the bowl 2 to place a toilet seat 14 thereon, and a discharging opening 5 which discharges flush water from a flush water supply device 4 into the bowl 2. The discharging opening 5 is provided in the upper part of a side face 2c(2d) in either of a right or left direction of the bowl 2, and the discharged direction of the flush water is set so as to face the rear face 2a at a rear B located posterior to the side face 2c(2d) of the bowl 2, and then the height of an upper end 13 of the rear face 2a is formed higher than that of an upper end 9a of the side face 2c(2d).
