<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device that obtains metric information including information on an available time slot, calculates a communication cost, and selects an appropriate route in a mesh network employing a time division multiplexing communication system. <P>SOLUTION: A communication device 10 forms a sub-network which is a part of a mesh network employing a time division multiplexing communication system, selects an appropriate communication route from a plurality of communication routes to another communication device formed by reserving a time slot, and communicates through it. The communication device 10 includes: information acquisition means 31 which acquires information to be used for communication route selection from a radio communication relay device on the reserved communication routes; and route selection means 34 which selects an appropriate communication route from the reserved communication routes using the information to be used for the communication route selection. The information to be used for the communication route selection includes time slot information allocated to the radio communication relay device.
