PURPOSE:To shorten the analysis time sharply and to make the analysis with high sensitivity, by supplying inactive gas different from carrier gas to make- up gas of a gas chromatography using an electron capture type detector (ECD). CONSTITUTION:At a gas chromatography consisting of a carrier gas supply part 2, a sample introducing part 3, a capillary column 4, a make-up gas supply part 5 and an ECD 6 in order from the upper stream, separation time of a component in sample is decreased sharply by supplying gaseous He or H2 as a carrier gas and small quantity (<= several m/min) of the carrier gas is used compared with the make-up gas and then, gaseous N2 is supplied to the make-up gas at about 20-60ml/min. Hereby, a short time analysis is facilitated with high sensitivity without having a bad influence upon the ECD. In case of using gaseous H2 as the carrier gas, gaseous mixture with Ar:CH4=9:1 is used for the make- up gas. |
