摘要 The objective of the present invention is to provide a highly reliable and highly efficient fluorescent light source device which is provided with an excitation light source for exciting a fluorescent substance and a wavelength conversion member that is provided with a fluorescent substance for converting the wavelength of the excitation light from the excitation light source. This fluorescent light source device is capable of suppressing thermal damage to the wavelength conversion member by irradiation of the excitation light, and is also capable of converging fluorescent light to a light exit surface of a small area and discharging the fluorescent light therefrom. A wavelength conversion member (3) of a fluorescent light source device of the present invention is separately provided with: an excitation light incident surface (31) which is supported by a base (4), and on which the excitation light is incident; a fluorescent light exit surface (32) from which the fluorescent light converted from the excitation light is discharged; and a heat dissipation surface (33) which is in contact with the base. The area of the excitation light incident surface is larger than the area of the fluorescent light exit surface.
