<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply form an oil trap passage that guides lubricating oil flowing down from a cylinder block. <P>SOLUTION: Structurally, an oil pan 2 connected to the cylinder block 1 from below is opened upward and forward; an approximately gutter-shaped passage wall 22 elongated in a vertical direction along one sidewall of the oil pan and opened upward and forward is molded to be connected to its side and bottom walls; a communication opening 24 penetrating in a longitudinal direction is opened at the lower end of the passage wall; and a cover body 3 is assembled to the oil pan from a front side to close the front side of the oil pan.
