<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition and a liquid crystal display device of which the characteristics such as contrast are not deteriorated and which enable liquid crystal alignment to be inexpensively controlled. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal composition contains a liquid crystal component and dendron having compatibility with the liquid crystal component. The liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal layer including a liquid crystal component and dendron having compatibility with the liquid crystal component.
