[Class 97 (i).] In folding spectacles or eyeglasses the eyepieces are connected to a rigid bridge so as to be capable of universal relative motion one to the other. As shown, the bridge 1 is pivoted at 2 by vertical pivots to elements 3 pivoted at 4 by horizontal pivots to fitments 5 secured by the lugs 6 to the rims 7 of the eyepieces. The bridge 1 has cut-away portions registering, when the spectacles are open, with stops on the elements 5. In a modification the hinges 2 may be replaced by a central hinge in the bridge. The bridge may he provided with ball joints at the ends or with bayonet-joints or pin-and-slot connections. Specification 340,613 is referred to.
