<p>The engine (10) has several cylinders whose upper section (19) is provided with exhaust valve (20) for exhaust gas and main injector (21) for supplying fuel for diesel mode. A gas inlet port (22) is assigned to each cylinder over fuel for gas operation, and is inserted into the cylinder. The fuel for gas operation is introduced in the charging air at relatively low pressure in the combustion chamber of respective cylinder if the piston (13) of respective cylinder is at the bottom dead center and/or in the position region of same adjacent area to the dead center of piston.
